Division Activity –
I have 6 Guavas, now mother has said to shared them equally with my sister. Let me make two equal sets.
There are two persons me and my sister and total given guavas should be divided in between us. My sister gets 3 guavas and I also get 3 guavas. So, 6 divided by 2 is 3. 6 ÷ 2 = 3. ‘÷’ is the sign of division.
The number to be divided is called the “DIVIDEND”. The number by which we divide is called the “DIVISOR”. The answer we get after division is called the “QUOTIENT”.
12 apples are to be divided among 4 children.
We have to share 12 apples in 4 children. so, we have to share 12 apples in 4 groups. 12 ÷ 4 = 3. ‘÷’ is the sign of division.
15 fishes are to be divided among 5 people
We have to share 15 fishes in 5 people. So, we have to share 15 fishes in 5 groups. 15 ÷ 5 = 3. ‘÷’ is the sign of division.
20 flowers are to be divided among 4 students
We have to share 20 flowers in 4 students. So, we have to share 20 flowers in 4 groups. 20 ÷ 4 = 5. ‘÷’ is the sign of division.
