MULTIPLICATION ( WORD PROBLEM)
Now we will discuss about word problem –
1) In each basket contains 10 apples, then tell how many apples will contain in 6 baskets ?
Ans.) If each basket contains 10 apples and we have 6 baskets in hand, then instead of repeated addition to simplify we will go for multiplication (remember the table of 6 or 10 ) –

OR 10 X 6 = 60
In 6 basket altogether/total 60 apples will contain. (Ans.)
2) In a picnic trip 8 buses were hired and every bus can carry a maximum of 50 people at a time. If all the buses were included with maximum capacity then how many people went to the picnic ?
Ans.) If each bus contain a maximum of 50 people and if there are 8 buses, then instead of repeated addition to simplify we will go for multiplication (remember the table of 8 or 50 ) –
If 1 bus contain = 50 people
Then, 8 buses contain = 5 0

Then, 400 people went to the picnic. (Ans.)
3) If the cost of all books for class Three is Rs.450 then how much price is needed to purchase all books of class three for 42 students?
Ans.) If, the cost of all books of class three,
for 1 student is = Rs. 4 5 0
Then, 42 students of, class three will give total = X 4 2

So, total Rs. 18,900 is required to purchase all book of class three for 42 students. (Ans.)
4) A ship can carry 1245 containers at a time, then calculate how much container 5 ship can carry altogether?
Instead of repeated addition to simplify we will go for multiplication (remember the table of 5) –
If at a time 1 ship can carry = 1 2 4 5
Then 5 ship can carry = X 5

So, 5 ship can carry altogether 6225 container. (Ans.)
5) A painter charge to paint Rs. 450 per square feet, and if he got the job to paint a hoarding of 85 square feet then what amount to be paid to him after completion of his painting?
Ans.) Instead of repeated addition to simplify we will go for multiplication (remember the table of 8 & 5 ) –
If a painter charge to paint per square feet = 4 5 0
He will charge to paint for 85 square feet = X 8 5
