Addition of Decimal
If we wish to add two or more decimal numbers then we have to follow the following steps –
First, we have to write the numbers one below the other with the decimal point in a line and for every decimal number’s position should be as per the same vertical line position of the decimal point.
Then we need to add the numbers and place the decimal point in the sum in line with the other decimal points. To make convenient we change the decimal into like decimal which means decimal with an equal number of digits after the decimal point by adding zeros ‘0’ to the right of the digits in the decimal places.
Example.
1) Add 23.124, 452.0215, 124.211 and 12.24
Ans.) 023 . 1240
452 . 0215
124 . 2110
+ 012 . 2400
-------------------
611 . 5965
So, the answer is 611.5965 (Ans.)
2) Add 134.24, 52.0255, 240.201 and 142.204
Ans.) 134 . 2400
052 . 0255
240 . 2010
+ 142 . 2040
--------------------
568 . 6705
So, the answer is 568.6705 (Ans.)
