DISTRIBUTIVE PROPERTY OF DIVISION OVER ADDITION & SUBTRACTION -
The distributive property of division over addition and subtraction is a bit different from the distributive property of multiplication. Division does not distribute over addition or subtraction in the same straightforward manner as multiplication does. However, there are certain ways to handle division with respect to addition and subtraction. Division Distributing over Addition and Subtraction
The standard distributive property of multiplication states:
a x (b + c) = (a x b) + (a x c)
For division, we don't have a similar straightforward distributive property. Instead, we can interpret the division of a sum or difference by a common divisor.
Division Distributing over Addition/Subtraction for Rational Numbers -
When a sum or difference is divided by a number, the division can be distributed over the terms of the sum or difference as follows:-
(a + b) a b
---------- = ------ + -------
c c c
(a - b) a b
---------- = ------- - -------
c c c

Important Notes:-
In summary, while division does not directly distribute over addition and subtraction like multiplication does, you can distribute division over the terms of a sum or difference by dividing each term separately. This helps in simplifying expressions and solving equations involving rational numbers.
