Finite Set
Finite Set, it has been considered that, if the members of the Set can be counted.
For Example–1) Y = { 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 }, which has Six members
2) Z = { x/x ϵ N, x < 50 }, which has 49 members
3) X = { x/x is a letter of the English alphabet }, which has 26 members
4) A = { x/x is a letter of the English vowel }, which has 5 members
Please find which following collection of members belongs to Set
Example–1) Please find all even whole numbers less than 15 is Set
All the even & whole numbers under 15 are = 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14
This is a set, it is possible to decide because there are numbers which are members of the collection.
Example–2) Please find all odd whole numbers less than 20 is Set
All the even & whole numbers under 20 are = 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19
This is a set, it is possible to decide because there are numbers which are members of the collection.
Example–3) All the students who plays cricket
This is not a set, because there is no way to decide whether particular students use to play cricket or not.
Example–4) Let, ‘Y’ is the set of the Odd number and which are multiplication of 3 and less than 20.
Odd number, multiplication of 3 and less than 20 are = 3, 9, 15
Whereas 3 ϵ Y, 9 ϵ Y, and 15 ϵ Y
