INTEGERS ON NUMBER LINE
Write the set of numbers in the set builder and tabular forms and represent the numbers on the number line –
Example.1) Integers greater than 4 and less than 10
Ans.) Set builder form = { x/x ϵ I, 4 < x < 10 }, tabular form = { 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 }
Example.2) Integers greater than -2 and less than 5
Ans.) Set builder form = { x/x ϵ I, -2 < x < 5 } , tabular form = { -1, 0, 1 , 2, 3, 4 }
Example.3) Integers greater than -8 and less than -2
Ans.) Set builder form = { x/x ϵ I, -8 < x < -2 } , tabular form = { -7, -6, -5, -4, -3 }
The absolute value of an integer is the number obtained by omitting its sign. In two positive integers the number with the greater absolute value is bigger and in two negative integers the number with the smaller absolute value is bigger. Each positive integer is greater than all negative integers.
