SURFACE AREA & VOLUME OF CUBE

SURFACE AREA & VOLUME OF CUBE -

A cube is a special type of cuboid where all sides are equal in length. If the side length of a cube is denoted by aaa, then the surface area and volume can be calculated as follows:

1. Surface Area of a Cube:-

The surface area of a cube is the total area of all six equal square faces.

                          A = 6a²

Where:-

  • a is the length of each side of the cube.

Example.1) If the length of the side of the cube is 6 cm, then find its total surface area (TSA).

Ans.)

Given, side length = 6 cm

TSA of cube = 6a²

TSA = 6 (6)²

TSA = 6 x 36

TSA = 216 sq.cm/cm²  (Ans.)

2. Volume of a Cube:-

The volume of a cube is the amount of space enclosed within it.

                             V = a³

Where:-

  • a is the length of each side of the cube.
Mensuration

Example:-

If a cube has a side length of a = 4 cm, then:

  • Surface Area:- A = 6 × (4)² = 6 × 16 = 96 cm²
  • Volume:V = (4)³= 64 cm³

These formulas provide a straightforward way to calculate the surface area and volume of a cube.
