MULTIPLICATION OF FRACTION

Multiplication of fraction

Step.1) Convert the mixed fraction (if any) into an improper fraction.

Step.2) Multiply the numerators of all the fractions to form the numerator of the product.

Step.3) Multiply the denominators of all the fractions to form the denominator of the product.

Step.4) Reduce the product to its simplest form by cancelling the common factors from the numerator and denominator.

Example.1)

Multiply  6/8  X  32/54

          6           32   

Ans.) ------- X -------                    

          8           54 

Step.1) Multiply the numerators of all the fractions to form the numerator of the product.

Step.2) Multiply the denominators of all the fraction to form the denominator. 

Step.3) reduce the product to its simplest form by cancelling common factors.

So, the answer is 4/9   (Ans.)






Example.2)

Multiply 15/40 X  20/50

           15             20

           40             50     

Step.1) Multiply the numerators of all the fractions to form the numerator of the product.

Step.2) Multiply the denominators of all the fraction to form the denominator of the product.

Step.3) reduce the product to its simplest form by cancelling common factors.
