CONVERSION OF FRACTION TO PERCENTAGE

CONVERSION OF FRACTION TO PERCENTAGE -

Converting a fraction to a percentage involves two main steps: dividing the numerator by the denominator to get a decimal, and then multiplying the result by 100 to convert the decimal to a percentage.

Steps to Convert a Fraction to a Percentage:-

  1. Divide the Numerator by the Denominator:-

This step converts the fraction into a decimal. For a fraction a/b, divide a by b to get a decimal value.

  2. Multiply by 100:-

To convert the decimal to a percentage, multiply the result by 100. Alternatively, you can think of this step as moving the decimal point two places to the right.

  3. Add the Percentage Sign:-

Finally, add the percentage sign (%) to indicate that the value is a percentage.

Example 1: Convert 3/4 to a Percentage

Step.1)  Divide the numerator by the denominator:-

                    3/4 = 0.75

Step.2) Multiply by 100 to get the percentage:-

                 0.75 × 100 = 75

Step.3) Add the percentage sign:-

                      75%

So, 3/4 is equal to 75%.        (Ans.)

Example 2: Convert 5/8 to a Percentage

Step.1) Divide the numerator by the denominator:-

                     5/8 = 0.625

Step.2) Multiply by 100 to get the percentage:-

                 0.625 × 100 = 62.5.

Step.3) Add the percentage sign:-

                       62.5%

So, 5/8 is equal to 62.5%.      (Ans.)

Summary:-

To convert a fraction to a percentage, divide the numerator by the denominator to get a decimal, then multiply by 100 and add the percentage sign. This method provides a straightforward way to express parts of a whole as percentages, which are commonly used in various applications like statistics, finance, and everyday calculations.
