RULES FOR ALGEBRAIC MULTIPLICATION

RULES FOR ALGEBRAIC MULTIPLICATION

There are some rules of multiplication are described here –

1) If two numbers literals or terms have like signs then their product will be positive and if they have unlike sign then the product will be negative –

Example –  a)    ( + )  X  ( + )  = ( + )

             b)    ( - )  X  ( - )  = ( + )

             c)    ( + )  X  ( - )  = ( - )

             d)    ( - )  X  ( + )  = ( - )

2) The product of two powers of a literals is another power of the literal. The index of the product will be sum of the indices of the two powers.

 aᵐ X aⁿ  =  aᵐ⁺ⁿ

3)  A X B X C = A X C X B = B X C X A = B X A X C = B X C X A =  B X A X C

4) to multiply a polynomial by a monomial, multiply each term of the polynomial by the monomial and add the product

5) To find the product of two polynomials, multiply each term of one polynomial by all the terms of the other polynomial and then add the products.

Multiplication of monomials –

Product of monomials = ( product of their numerical coefficient) X (product of their literal coefficient)

Multiplication of a polynomial by a monomial –

We should multiply each term of the polynomial by the monomial and we should have to add the product

Multiplication of two polynomial –

To find the product of two polynomial, multiply each term of one polynomial by all the terms of the other polynomial and add all the resulting product
