INTRODUCTION OF FACTORS & MULTIPLES
FACTORS & MULTIPLES –
If a given number is exactly divisible by another number, that number is called a FACTOR of the given numbers, while the given number is called a MULTIPLE of the other number. For better understanding, we are introducing some example –
Example.1) 30 = 3 X 5 X 2, so 2, 3 & 5 are factors of 30. Also 30 is a multiple of 2, 3 & 5 . further ( 2 X 3 = 6, 3 X 5 = 15, 2 X 5 = 10 ) or 6, 15, 30, are also the factors of 30.
Example.2) 15 = 3 X 5, so 3 & 5 are factors of 15. Also 15 is a multiple of 3 & 5
Example.3) 80 = 2 X 2 X 2 X 2 X 5, so 2, 2, 2, 2 & 5 are factors of 80, also 80 is a multiple of 2, 2, 2, 2 & 5. Further ( 2 X 2 = 4, 4 X 2 = 8, 8 X 2 = 16, 4 X 5 = 20, 5 X 8 =40 ) or 4, 8, 16, 20, 40 are also the Factors of 80.
Every number is a factor of itself and 1 is a factor of every number.
Every number is a multiple of itself and every number is a multiple of 1.
Every number has countless multiple.
