AREA OF PARALLELOGRAM -
Area of a Parallelogram = Base X Height
Area of parallelogram ABCD = AB X DL = AD X BM
Example.1) Find the area of parallelogram where one of whose sides is 40 cm and the corresponding height is 7 cm
Ans.) Area of the parallelogram = (Base X Height)
= 40 cm X 7 cm = 280 cm² (Ans.)
Example.2) Two adjacent sides of a parallelogram are 36 cm and 18 cm. if the distance between the longer sides is 16 cm, find the distance between the shorter sides.
Ans.) Let the distance between the shorter side be h cm.
Area of a parallelogram = Base X Corresponding Height
So, 36 X 16 = 18 X h
36 X 16
So, h = ------------ = 32 cm
18
Hence, the distance between the shorter sides is 32 cm. (Ans.)
