CLASS-1
Addition of Double Digit Number

DOUBLE DIGIT ADDITION WITH LOGICAL PROCEDURE -

Example.1)

The addition of double-digit numbers follows the same principles as the addition of any other numbers. Here's a step-by-step process to add double-digit numbers:

  1. Start by aligning the numbers vertically, with the ones digit (the digit on the right) lined up with each other and the tens digit (the digit on the left) lined up with each other. For example: 35 + 37 = ?
  2. Begin by adding the ones digits together. If the sum of the ones digits is less than 10, write it down below the line.In our example, 5 + 7 = 12. Write down 2 below the line and carry over the 1 (tens place value) to the next step.
  3. Move to the tens digits. Add the tens digits together along with any carried over value from the previous step.

In our example, 1 (carried over) + 2 + 3 = 6. Write down 6 below the line.

   4. Check if there are any additional digits remaining in the larger number. If so, bring them down directly below the line.In our example, there are no additional digits in the larger number.

   5. The resulting number below the line is the sum of the two double-digit numbers. In our example, 25 + 37 = 62.

So, the addition of the double-digit numbers 25 and 37 is equal to 62.

Example.2)

The addition of double-digit numbers follows the same principles as the addition of any other numbers. Here's a step-by-step process to add double-digit numbers:

  1. Align the numbers vertically, making sure the digits are properly lined up.
  2. Start adding the digits in the rightmost column (ones column). In this example, it's 3 + 5, which equals 8. Write the result below the line.
  3. Move to the next column (tens column) and add the digits in that column. In this case, it's 2 + 4, which equals 6. Write the result below the line.
  4. If there are additional columns to the left, continue adding the digits in each column, carrying over any values greater than 9 to the next column. Repeat the process until all columns have been added.
  5. The final result is the sum of the two double-digit numbers. In this example, 23 + 45 equals 68.Remember to align the numbers properly and add the corresponding digits in each column to obtain the correct sum.

Example.3

If you want to perform double-digit addition without carrying forward, also known as carrying or regrouping, you can follow a modified process. Here's an example:

Let's add 23 and 45 without carrying forward:

  23
+ 45
------

Start by adding the digits in the rightmost column (ones column), which are 3 and 5. Since there is no carrying forward, you simply add them together:

3 + 5 = 8

Write the result below the line:

     23
   + 45
  ------
      8

Next, move to the next column (tens column) and add the digits in that column, which are 2 and 4. Again, without carrying forward, you add them together:

2 + 4 = 6

Write the result below the line:

     23
   + 45
  -------
     86

The final result is 86, which is the sum of 23 and 45 without any carrying forward involved.

It's important to note that in regular addition, carrying forward is typically required when the sum of digits in a column is greater than 9. However, if you specifically want to perform addition without carrying forward, you can follow this modified process.
